Dan Gribbin
Teacher, Poet, Musician, Photographer, and Author
Dan Gribbin studied at Tulane University (B.A.) and UNC-Chapel Hill (M.A. and Ph.D.) with two years in the U.S. Army thrown in for good measure. While teaching at Ferrum College, he contributed to the literary scene in nearby Roanoke as poet, book reviewer, and member of the editorial staff of Artemis.
Once he relocated to Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, Dan taught at the University of Central Florida and began his career as a singer/songwriter. The shore birds of Central Florida also caught his attention as a photographer, resulting in his many sets of note cards and prints. His fiction writing began in earnest in 2020, during the global pandemic. Catch My Drift: Stories to Float Your Boat is his second collection of short stories, following the 2025 publication of Fast Friends: Tales of Remarkable Friendship.

New to the Writing Scene
Dan's literary journey spans poetry, book reviews, and editorial work before settling into a passion for fiction. His writings explore the connections and experiences that shape our lives, as showcased in his short story collections Fast Friends: Tales of Remarkable Friendship and Catch My Drift: Stories to Float Your Boat.
Fast Friends:
Fast Friends is a collection of seventeen stories offering an intriguing variety of characters involved in “tales of remarkable friendship.” in some cases, friends are heartwarmingly reunited, in others, strangers form unexpected bonds under bizarre circumstances.
Catch My Drift:
Simultaneously unique and connected, Catch My Drift is a collection of short stories exploring relationships, communication, and staying cool in crises big and small. From sisters trying to reconnect to a young woman fleeing an ex liable to punch down a door, Catch My Drift doesn’t flinch from uncomfortable moments and flawed logic. In fact, it is through those uncomfortable moments that Gribbin’s characters find the reason for their pain.
